The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service has updated their world soybean production and utilization values for 2013/2014. The five countries with the greatest soybean production was the United States (89.507 million metric tons), followed by Brazil (88.5mmt), Argentina (54.0mmt), China 12.2mmt) and India (11.8mmt). Listed below are the 20 countries that produced the most soybeans. One can readily see world soybean production is dominated by North and South America; producing nearly 88% of the world’s total.

China is the world’s leading producer of soybean meal and domestic user; producing about 30% of the world’s total soybean meal. The other major soybean meal producers are the United States, Brazil and Argentina, followed by European Union, India and Mexico. It is only logical that these same countries are also leading producers of livestock, poultry and aquaculture since soybean meal and feed grains compose diets needed for efficient production.
